The Axis Syllabus© was first developed in the late 1990s by the choreographer, dancer and teacher Frey Faust. Initially conceived as a means of promoting dancers’ health, it evolved into a tool for achieving virtuosity and enhancing the pleasure of movement. With the contribution of the Axis Syllabus Research Meshwork (ASRM), an international group of artists, therapists, scientists, and movement professionals who have come together over the years and continue to drive research forward, the book The Axis Syllabus©: Human Movement Lexicon is in its sixth edition. Further information is available at www.axissyllabusforums.org.

Corporealities of the Axis Syllabus in Movement is a series of five masterclasses taught by several teachers.

Every day we will offer a concept from the Axis Syllabus archive to prepare the body for dancing.
A look at the body, its complexity and poetry.
Theoretical and practical tools to facilitate healthy, effective, and conscious ways to move.
To share the joy of dancing.
Finding grace in everyday actions, to increase our creative and performative potential.

HANDS in Contact Improvisation
In “Penfield’s Homunculus”, the hands appear disproportionately large. This metaphorical representation reflects them as a fundamental organ of perception. In Contact Improvisation, the trust we can establish through the proper use of hands seems to be an important question. How can we use our hands to communicate clearly, encourage, support the relationship, and signal our boundaries?
